Welcome to the online portion of Maine College of Art's 33rd Annual Art Auction on Friday, Nov. 9, 2007. The auction is MECA's major fundraising event, with proceeds supporting our mission and ensuring scholarship support for art and design students in need of financial aid.
The process begins with nationally recognized and local artists and collectors, as well as MECA faculty staff, alumni and current students, who generously donate work to the auction in order to assist more than 90% of MECA students who benefit from scholarship support. High winning bids and purchases of the artwork and art related services validates the artists' support by raising $100,000 of new revenues.
Contributing artists benefit as well by earning a commission on the sale of work and by having their art prominently featured in the online gallery and for two weeks of viewing at the Institute of Contemporary Art at MECA, October 24 - November 9.
A high bid on any of the items listed in the catalog allows you to demonstrate your support of MECA as one of the country's leading, small private colleges of art and design. Hundreds of BFA students engaged in a rigorous creative learning process that serves as a foundation for a lifelong pursuit of personal and professional goals will thank you!
